A talk by Jim tomorrow and Second Friday Concerts show cancelled due to COVID concerns

Ursula K. LeGuin

Hi Egomaniacs!

I (jim) will be giving a talk at the Warner Free Lecture series on Speculative Fiction and Society virtually on Friday, March 25. You can register for the event here at eventbright

Description:

The Handmaid’s Tale, Station Eleven, Dune, The Peripheral, all tell the tale of a turn of events that changes the course of humanity. The job of a book about the future is to speculate, and thus may be cast out from the shelves of serious literature. But these novels help us imagine something worse or better ahead. They provide warnings, like in The Handmaid’s Tale, or hope in the face of hopelessness like in Station Eleven. They can show us how strange we can become, such as in The Peripheral, and mirror our world from afar, as in Dune.

Join singer/songwriter/author Jim Infantino as he explores the activity of speculation in storytelling and the writing process.

Important announcement:

We are sorry to report that our show on April 8 in Belmont at Second Friday Concerts has been cancelled due to continuing COVID concerns. The show will be rescheduled and we may replace it with an online concert solo or with the band - stay tuned.
