An actual RECORD release party for Utopia Revisited!

Jim in Kurt Uenalas Studio in Iceland

“I forgot to tell you how much I loved Utopia Revisited! It sounded like the album that you’d always wanted to make. All those textures that worked so well with the themes of the songs/books. I loved them all. I’m so glad you got a chance to pull up all of your influences (Anderson, Eno, Nirvana, Merton…) into this beautiful album.” – Dar Williams

In February, I flew to Iceland to record a project with ex-JBE bassist and music producer Kurt Uenala. Together we created an 8 song album Dar Williams describes as “The album (I) always wanted to make.” Dar knows me well. My influences have always been in ambient/experimental/electronica music and I'm thrilled to do a show celebrating the release of the Vinyl version of Utopia Revisited this upcoming Thursday.

The band has been hard at work creating unique Jim’s Big Ego renditions of these unusual tunes. We will start the show with our own version of the tracks from Utopia Revisited and then go into our fan favorites from our past albums, including a napkin poetry section of the show where you get to write the lyrics.

As you might know, vinyl production is slow, as there are very few vinyl plants left on the planet. Being ecologically-minded, I chose one of the only eco-friendly vinyl plants in the world, and they are located in The Netherlands. After many production delays, they are on their way to the USA as I send this. On the off chance that they are delayed in transit, I will have signed inserts at the show and pre-order forms and will ship them for free to you as soon as they arrive. There is a good chance we will have them, but I think fair warning about supply chain issues is warranted in this case.

The RECORD release party is

Thursday Night, October 5th at Club Passim in Cambridge

47 Palmer Street, Cambridge MA 02138

There are two videos so far. The latest video for Spinning was produced by Einar Snorri and stars Jörundur Ragnarsson (imdb link) and Anna Kolbrún Lárusdóttir. It was shot in Iceland with some short clips of me shot by Liz Linder in Brookline. It’s really special - check it out.
